They say your twenties are the best years of your life; the years of dreams, the years of youth and the years of growth. But what they don’t tell you is that they’re also the years of pressure. Are you in the right job? Are you on the right career path? Are you fit enough? Are you pretty enough? Should you be thinking about marriage yet? Should you start having kids yet? So many bloody questions! But NO answers. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw “Your twenties are to make the mistakes, your thirties are to learn the lessons and your forties are to pay for the drinks.”
So, stop putting so much damn pressure on yourself. This article isn’t about giving you all the answers to the questions we ask ourselves every day, it’s about throwing you in the right direction and letting you know that it’s all going to be okay in the end.
One of my most liked tweets on Twitter is:
“You should eliminate any thought that there is an expectation that you do anything by a certain age. You don’t have to be married by 25. It’s okay to be 16 and never been kissed. Still haven’t got your dream job by 30? That’s fine. Just go at your own speed. It’s not a race.”
And you know what? Life really is no damn race! So breathe, let your hair down from time to time and read these quotes that I picked out specifically for you!
Did you spot the other Carrie Bradshaw quote I sneaked in there? If you haven’t seen Sex and the City (well, where the hell have you been for the last 19 years?), then I suggest you watch the box-set NOW for all the womanly wisdom you need.
